Safaricom's Mpesa has become the best option of paying bills. It also offers a husle free way to purchase items without having to go to the physical location of the shop.

The Kenya power and lighting company which is now known as Kenya power has come up with a new way of buying the electricity tokens via the Mpesa. These tokens can then be typed into an individual prepaid electricity meter.

Here is how to Buy to Kenya Power (KPLC) Prepaid Tokens with Lipa na M-Pesa paybill number 888880

Go to M-Pesa menu, select “Lipa na M-Pesa”
Select “Paybill”
Select “Enter business no.” and enter the KPLC prepaid Lipa na M-Pesa paybill number 888880 and press “OK”
Select “Enter account no” i.e. 11 digit pre-paid meter number and press “OK”
Enter amount between KSh 250 and 35,000 and press “OK”
Enter M-Pesa PIN and press “OK”
Confirm all the details are correct and press OK
You will receive a confirmation SMS from MPESA immediately.
KPLC will then generate a prepaid token for your meter and send it to you via SMS.
