The ongoing brawl between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, which has seen the Government close down businesses that belong to Joho’s family on the pretext that it was facilitating importation of contraband goods in the country, has motivated the latter politically.
According to a section of CORD legislators, Joho is being targeted by Uhuru because of his unwavering support for CORD and his loyalty to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, which they said was causing Jubilee sleepless nights ahead of 2017 considering his vast influence in the Coastal region.
Some CORD supporters have alleged that closure of Joho’s businesses at the Coast was all because of business rivalry, saying Uhuru was worried and jealous of Joho’s booming business.
But with all the hullaballoo, the Mombasa Governor appears not shaken and bowed by Uhuru’s continued intimidation as he goes about his business as usual as if nothing significant has happened.
In fact, yesterday, Joho led CORD campaigns in Malindi to drum up support for the ODM candidate. He traversed the constituency campaigning for ODM’s Willy Mtengo accompanied by other CORD leaders.
Joho said nothing can put him down or intimidate him, not even Uhuru or Jubilee.
